Júlio Resende la voz del piano portugués

Júlio Resende, Portuguese pianist and composer, is one of the most original and versatile musicians of his generation. With a career spanning more than ten albums, his trajectory began in jazz, moving through pop-rock and spoken word, until finding in fado a new form of expression. This constant pursuit of innovation and improvisation has made him an essential figure in Portuguese music.

“I love Júlio Resende’s piano. Someday I will record some things with him.”

“Júlio Resende’s approach to fado from a jazz perspective is new, and even surprisingly late, because it feels so logical. But this also demonstrates the evolutionary strength of the genre: Júlio Resende did not force a crossover album, but rather surrendered to a natural development.”
BRF

“What Júlio Resende does with fado reminds me of what Keith Jarrett does with jazz standards.”

Dúo

The Portuguese pianist Júlio Resende, pioneer of the Fado Jazz genre, joins forces with Bruno Chaveiro, one of the most remarkable talents of the Portuguese guitar, in a unique and emotionally rich duo that builds a bridge between tradition and innovation.

In 2020, the pair released their first collaborative album, Fado Jazz Ensemble, through Sony Music in Portugal and the prestigious German jazz label ACT Music for the rest of the world. The project received critical acclaim for its bold yet natural fusion of two distinct worlds: the soul of fado and the improvisational freedom of jazz.

After a successful international tour, Júlio and Bruno returned to the studio in 2023 to record their second album, Sons of the Revolution, delving even deeper into their exploration of music that crosses genres with authenticity and virtuosity.

In 2024, the duo embarked on their first U.S. tour, with sold-out concerts in Washington, New York, and San Francisco. With each performance, they captivated audiences and critics alike, consolidating their place at major international festivals, such as Jazzaldia (also with two sold-out concerts).
Fado Jazz is not just a musical experience: it is a movement led by two exceptional artists who are redefining Portuguese music on the global stage.
